Biography

El Dr. Oscar Pizarro (Chile, 1963) is an Oceanographer from the P. Universidad Católica de Valparaíso in Chile. He obtained his PhD in Oceanography from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, in 1999.

His research areas are: Eastern Boundary Current Systems, circulation dynamics, upwelling and coastal ocean processes, Equatorial dynamic, El Niño, Ocean Variability and Climate.

He is the Director and a Professor at the Department of Geophysics of the Facultad de Ciencias Físicas y Matemáticas of the Universidad de Concepción.
